Steve Lamante is one of Sydney’s most in-demand session drummers, known for his musical versatility, refined touch and effortless adaptability across jazz, pop, soul, contemporary and commercial settings. Throughout his career, he has recorded and performed with an impressive roster of acclaimed artists including Katy Perry, Ronan Keating, Ricky Martin, Guy Sebastian, Johnny Ruffo, Fantine (supporting Erykah Badu), Casey Donovan, D.I.G. and Michelle Martinez.
Steve holds a Bachelor of Music (Performance) from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where he studied under leading Australian jazz drummers Andrew Dickeson, Toby Hall and Gordon Rytmeister. His formal training, combined with years of professional experience, has shaped him into a highly adaptable and well-rounded musician capable of excelling in a wide range of musical environments.
His performance career spans major international stages such as the Glastonbury Festival (UK) and Rix FM Festival (Sweden), as well as many of Australia’s most prestigious venues including the Sydney Opera House, Enmore Theatre and The Basement. Steve has also featured on national television programs including Australian Idol, The X Factor and Australia’s Got Talent.
Beyond live performance, Steve has worked extensively across studio sessions, TV jingles, commercial recordings and musical theatre. Since 2022, he has been travelling internationally as the resident drummer for the GRAMMY Award-winning musical Hamilton, performing throughout Southeast Asia, Dubai and New Zealand.
